  • Carlos Santana was introduced to Big Core Strings by his Guitar Technician, Rene Martinez. He has continued to use them and the result is beautifully realized in his new Signature Series. Rene Martinez has been one of the nation's leading experts in guitar maintenance and repair since 1972. Rene worked at Dallas Texas' famous Charley's Guitar Shop From 1976 through 1985.
  • The reason the strings are called Big Core is because they start with a much larger core wire and then wrap around it. This offers a nice fat string that brings heavy tone and a smooth feel. Also the gauges are slightly different then anything else we offer here at GHS. All sets start with half gauges (.0095, .0105) and go up from there. This gauging is of course, caused by the core wire ratio.
